Many scientists, perhaps most, do not believe in God, much less in life after death. The arguments are not easy to challenge. A math teacher asked me what was so magical in the number 2. "Why do you not believe that we have three or four lives, always at a higher stage?" Magical would be, he said, the numbers zero, one and infinite. Zero for death, one for life, and infinite for countless lives, in the spirit of Hinduism. A biologist asked me if I wanted to live billions of years alongside the ectoplasms of monkeys, mouses, beetles and ants. " We are not as biologically superior to animals as we thought 2000 years ago. "It's human arrogance," continued my biologist friend, "to think that just we deserve a second life." "Imagine spending millions of years asking billions of souls, 'Is that you, mother?" I personally believe in life after death. I believe there is even scientific evidence consistent with religious scriptures. Genetics shows us that we will live after death, through the DNA of our children. Your DNA may be eternal, it will be "alive" in our offspring, in your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Life goes on, generation after generation, we will have infinite lives, as they preach in Hinduism. More interestingly, our genes will be slowly combined through the marriage of children and grandchildren, with virtually every the other human on Earth. We will slowly all be brothers or relatives, a large fellowship of man, as preached by most religions and mystical texts. That is why we need to be more supportive, fraternal with one another, and forgiving as all religions preach. The person who today is helping you or defying you could be the grandfather of the granddaughter who will one day marry your grandson. e will all be one, Catholics, Anglicans, Protestants, Blacks, Arabs and Jews. It's simply a matter of time. There is no doubt that we need to enjoy life more, but never at the expense of our children, leaving a polluted planet, full of public debt and social security payments for them to pay off. "Being in heaven" means knowing that your children and grandchildren will be successful, worthy of their surname, that they will carry your genes with pride and veneration. Hell is knowing that your children will be poor or drug addicts. Nobody needs to fear death knowing that our genes will be immortal. There is life after death, our genes will live on.
